Marvel has been playing coy with their upcoming release schedule. We know all the film release dates leading up to 2020. However, we do not know the last three film titles. Speaking to Toronto Sun, Kevin Feige, Marvel Studio head, stated that the titles of the last three films could be considered spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4.
That got me thinking: what on earth are the last three films? Perhaps, we can crack the code and decipher what are the last three films released in 2020.
Put Money on it
The New Avengers – I can imagine a new start for the Marvel-verse as the contracts for the current cast of heroes start to run out. Perhaps this gives Marvel a chance to start a new team of heroes and even give them a new name such as “The New Avengers”.
This would obviously be a title that would spoil the previous Avengers film by suggesting that the aftermath of Avengers would need a new Avengers team.
Captain America: Bucky – An idea we’ve all been dreaming about ever since Captain America began. Will we see Bucky Barnes take on the mantle of Captain America? Perhaps the title may be Winter Soldier: Captain America.
Having a major character like Captain America die in the Avengers would send a clear message moving forward in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). A momentous occasion to pass on the mantle.
These Could Happen
X-Men Crossover – Now, this is a stretch, but perhaps Kevin Feige has gained a massive deal with Fox to do a crossover of ultra proportions. Could we see X-Men battle with or against the Avengers and coexist in the same world or travel from an alternative one?
There’s a lot of money to be made from this deal. I can imagine Fox watching closely at the upcoming Spider-Man film to track its performance.
Fantastic Four Crossover – Speaking of crossovers, the other Fox property may also find a new home. I wonder, after the not so great reboot of 2015 if Fox would consider selling their rights to Fantastic Four back to Marvel and cut their losses.
Having Fantastic Four in the hands of Disney/Marvel would allow for some great story-telling and a new element to the MCU, that in the form of a separate team away from the Avengers, similarly to the Guardians of the Galaxy. With the difference being the two teams, Avengers and Fantastic Four, living on the same planet.
The Defenders – Could we see Marvel Studios finally embrace the TV world? Perhaps the Netflix heroes will be giving a chance to shine in their own feature film.
Although this may not necessarily spoil the Avenger films, this would show a clear indication of the direction that Marvel would be taking post-Avengers 4.
World War Hulk – A big one. A popular one, also. Will they trigger the story everybody wants to see? Assuming that the rumours about Thor: Ragnarok being a loose Planet Hulk storyline, perhaps a return of The Hulk in a standalone film can come in the form of a newly adapted World War Hulk storyline.
There you have it. What do you think will be the titles for the last three films? Let us know in the comments. Also, please vote in our poll.
