Some of the best moments in the Star Wars franchise are the epic space battles, and what would these battles be without the ships shooting at each other? This franchise has some of the most interesting and unique designs in cinema history, so we’ve decided to make a list of our top 5 ships in Star Wars!

5 – Star destroyer

One of the first things you see in the franchise, Star Destroyers are huge, threatening, and they made triangles cool long before Jay-Z.

4 – Slave 1

One of the few ships that’s solely associated with one character, Slave 1 is (almost) as cool as the man who pilots it (that being Boba Fett). It also featured in both the original series, and the prequels, so fingers crossed it turns up somewhere in The Force Awakens.

3 – Darth Vader’s Tie Fighter

All Tie Fighter’s are cool, but there’s something about Darth Vader’s that just stands out. Maybe it’s the Sith Lord’s presence, or maybe it’s that he managed to survive in it after spinning off into space.

2 – X-Wing

The standard issue craft for rebel pilots, this is the ship Luke Skywalker spent most of his time in. It even has a nice little slot for R2D2, and who doesn’t love the Death Star trench run?

1 – The Millennium Falcon

Was there ever any doubt? It doesn’t have a very practical design, but seeing the Millennium Falcon is like seeing a lightsaber, it personifies Star Wars in a way no other ship does. It also did the Kessel run in 12 parsecs, something that isn’t physically possible.

Which is your favourite ship in the Star Wars franchise? Are there any you felt should be on this list? Share any thoughts in the comments.
