It’s happening. This has been a rumour for a long time, but late last night it was officially confirmed that Sony and Marvel will be teaming up, and Spider-man will finally be appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! This is what fans have been wanting since Nick Fury first broke into Tony Stark’s house and announced his plans for the Avengers Initiative.

The mastermind behind the Marvel films, Kevin Feige, is on board to produce, however there’s been no mention of current Spider-man actor Andrew Garfield. This more than likely means that he, along with the rest of the cast, won’t be returning, so we can expect an announcement in the near future of who will be playing the new Peter Parker (or Miles Morales?).

So how soon can we expect to see the web-slinger in the MCU? Even though he’s a huge part of the Civil War story, Captain America: Civil War is already in pre-production, and unless this deal has been in place for a while and we just haven’t heard about it, it’s unlikely he’ll be appearing that soon. One place he’ll definitely be seen is in The Avengers: Infinity War parts one and two, but that would mean he wouldn’t in any films until 2018.
