We’ve had Batman V Superman and it was… okay. A lot of split opinions on it, and one of the main differences between audiences when looking to the future of the DC Cinematic Universe (DCCU) is who should be the Kevin Feige of the DC world. Who can be in charge overall of all the DC films and ensure they work together like Kevin Feige does for Marvel. Some are in the camp of supporting Zack Snyder and others believe that he’s had his chance and ruined it. I thought it’d be interesting to have a look into some possibilities and get peoples’ opinions on who they think should take the helm of the beast that is the DCCU.
Put Money on it
Zack Snyder – Yes, Batman V Superman wasn’t the greatest movie of all time. Yes, it didn’t cross the $1 billion mark. But, Zack has kick-started all of this from Man of Steel. He’s currently DC’s overseer on the franchise currently and the movie execs at Warner Brothers may love him still. Just because of a few bad internet comments, can they really get rid of him?
Ben Affleck – Arguably the best thing in Batman V Superman was Ben Affleck’s portrayal of Batman. He certainly has the fans support to take the helm of all the future DC films. He also has a little thing known as an Oscar for Best Directing. No biggie. However, is DC the property Ben Affleck wants to dedicate potentially the next 10 years of his life toward. Can Ben Affleck be the saviour that we need?
These Could Happen
George Miller – There are rumours that George Miller may be attached to future DC films, however nothing as of yet has been confirmed. With the beloved action film Mad Max: Fury Road from last year George Miller has proven that he is capable of greatness. George Miller also was going to direct a Justice League film years prior to the most recent re-imagining. Maybe this can be his chance?
David Ayer – He has Suicide Squad for this year. If all fans love it, can we expect Ayer taking up a more important role? Suicide Squad is the perfect opportunity to showcase his abilities in character development and interaction. If we all love Suicide Squad, I feel that many will be asking the question: Why not Ayer? #WhyNotAyer
Geoff Johns – Currently the Chief Creative Officer for DC Comics as a whole. Could he take more involvement into the overarching storylines for the DC cinematic world? He is helping to write the upcoming Batman solo film.
Christopher Nolan – DC’s golden boy. He who can do no wrong. Can the director who brought us, arguably, the best on scene rendition of Batman take control and save the DC cinematic universe? Christopher Nolan was attached at first to the Man of Steel film and helped produce it, however recently he has seemed to drop of the radar in terms of helping with the DC world.
Bryan Singer – He’s currently the head man for X-Men, but would he be willing to jump over to DC to help them out? Would DC want him after the reactions to Superman Returns? Bryan Singer does seem to be hit and miss with his films. However, when he delivers, we get some of the best.
Greg Berlanti – Currently the head honcho for the DC TV Arrowverse (Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and now Supergirl). Greg Berlanti also started Smallville and is currently working on a Booster Gold movie. Can he take his talent over to the movie side? Or can we not forgive him for his involvement in Green Lantern?
Those of some of the directors/people I think may be best suited for this role. What do you think? Who do you want to Kevin Feige the DC world? Be sure to share your thoughts in comments and vote in our poll.
