This week we think we know what film Leonardo DiCaprio will win his first Oscar for and discuss even more Alien news!

In News Roundup we take a look at the top stories from the previous seven days.

News Roundup: Leonardo DiCaprio to finally win Oscar?

Leonardo DiCaprio to Play 24 Different Personalities in The Crowded Room

Is this it? Will this get him what he deserves? Based on a true story, The Crowded Room is about a man suffering from multiple personality disorder. He has 24 in fact. Although this sounds like the premise of a comedy, it’s a crime drama as one of personalities commits rape and another personality commits murder.

Let’s just hope that Daniel Day-Lewis is sitting it out from films that year and that Meryl Streep doesn’t play a man in a film and get best Actor as well as Actress (I honestly see this happening one day).

Jennifer Lawrence and Steven Spielberg to team up for war movie

Possibly an odd pairing, but both are great talent. Jennifer Lawrence will play wartime journalist who attempts to seek the truth.

This film definitely sounds like Oscar-bait and I’m not the only one who thinks that. Reese Wetherspoon and Darren Aronofsky was another pair who had hoped for a chance to make this film along with Natalie Portman and Margot Robbie (not as a director/actor pairing).

Adventure Time is becoming a feature film

I guess this is a thing… I’m gonna be honest and admit I’ve never seen Adventure Time. But when animated shows get picked up for a movie deal it gets me excited about what they’ll pick next. Bring on Danger Mouse!

Jessica Chastain to join the cast of The Huntsman

So they kick out Kristen Stewart and make the film about Chris Hemsworth character in a story about Sleeping Beauty, ouch. With Kristen Stewart given the boot I guess that left space for Jessica Chastain.

One of the strongest female casts I’ve seen in a while; Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain.

Neill Blomkamp’s new Alien movie to disregard Aliens 3 and onwards

We’ve covered the trickling progression of this story over a course of many News Roundups and Rumour Patrols. The latest is that now, the new Alien film will be set after Alien 2 and ignore Alien 3 and 4. Sigourney Weaver is also on board and agrees with the new approach.

Let’s get this rolling! Cannot wait!

First Look at Batista as Mr. Hinx in the new James Bond Film, Spectre

First Look at Jared Leto in preparation for his role as the Joker in Suicide Squad

From Jesus lookalike to clean-shaven with only a couple of snips. It’s great to see actors taking their roles seriously. Out of all the possible candidates to play the Joker, Jared Leto is one I missed off. But now he’s been cast, I’ve quickly forgotten the other options I had consider before. Cannot wait!

That’s it for this week’s roundup. What do you think about Eddie Redmayne in his new role? Would you have recognised him if I hadn’t of said?
