This week we reveal who will be playing the Beast in Beauty and The Beast, Toy Story 4 news, Bryan Singer’s newest project and casting news for Independence Day sequel.
In News Roundup we take a look at the top stories from the previous seven days and feature some of the week’s latest trailers.
Emma Watson has already been confirmed to play Belle in the upcoming live-action rendition of Disney’s beloved animated movie. I don’t know much about Dan Stevens other than that he was in The Guest. I’m more interested in how they’ll do the motion-capture of The Beast.
Yes, they’re still going ahead with a Toy Story sequel, we’ve already shared our opinion on the matter. The team behind Toy Story feel that the original trilogy of films ended perfectly and that they will leave that as is, instead we will focus more on the toys rather than their relationship with their owner. The next Toy Story will be more of a ‘romantic comedy’ than a direct sequel.
Bryan Singer certainly gained our trust back after delivering a spectacular X-Men film in the form of Days of Future Past, which featured in many of our top tens of the year. Now he is attempting a story about revolt from the people living on the Moon against the residents of Earth. Although the book has the awesome name of ‘The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress’ they’ve currently decided to go with the title ‘Uprising‘. Please go back to the original title!
Life, uh, finds a way. In this case, the sequel to Independence Day has found a new cast member in the form of Liam Hemsworth and returning to reprise his role from the previous film Jeff Goldblum. We haven’t seen any footage or anything yet so there isn’t much to go on about this announcement.
The new film mentioned is Beasts of No Nation which was recently purchased by Netflix. Netflix had announced that they will be releasing the film in theatres simultaneously as they released it on Netflix. However, the big four cinema chains in the US (AMC, Regal, Cinemark and Carmike) haven’t agreed to those terms and have boycotted the film. Netflix have continued to carry plans for a theatrical releases and will approach small independent cinemas instead.
Let’s take a look at some of the trailers released this week.
Finally, we get more than a ten-second clip. This film, simply put, looks amazing!
Dark Places Trailer
From the same author of Gone Girl comes the book adaptation of Dark places featuring Charlize Theron. Yes, yes, yes!
Ryan Reynolds, check. Ben Kingsley, check. Immortality discussion, check. This film looks awesome and I can’t wait.
Avengers: Age of Ultron Trailer
You’ve already seen it, but give it a 14th watch. Go on!
That’s it for this week’s roundup. What do you think about Idris Elba’s new film being boycotted?
