From the ashes it returns, welcome back to the weekly segment News Roundup. This week Emma Watson has a new role, Ghostbusters has a new cast, Mission Impossible 5 has a new release, Star Wars has a new schedule and Fifty Shades of Grey has a new rating.
In News Roundup we take a look at the top stories from the previous seven days and feature some of the week’s latest trailers.
Emma Watson, most famous from her role as Hermione in Harry Potter, has now signed on to play the live-action version of Belle in Beauty and the Beast, continuing Disney’s plan of reimagining their classic animated films in live-action.
Belle and Emma Watson are identical, so huge props to the casting team for getting her. It’s about time in my opinion that Emma Watson took on more mainstream projects. I’m more interested to see how they’ll do the Beast. Is Andy Serkis available?
We have four of the funniest actors in the industry taking up the mantle of the beloved team, Ghostbusters. Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy got the call to put on their jumpsuits.
I personally haven’t seen Leslie Jones or Kate McKinnon, but I have been ensured that they’re hilarious. They both work on Saturday Night Live, which is an American comedy sketch show where Wiig and McCarthy also got their starts.
Originally scheduled for December 2015, they have revised the launch date to July 31st. This is probably because Star Wars is planned for December, and no one can compete with the force. Speaking of which…
The release dates for the upcoming films are as follows:
- Star Wars Episode 7 – December 18th 2015
- Standalone Star Wars Spinoff – 2016
- Star Wars Episode 8 – In 2017
- Star Wars Episode 9 – In 2019
It is probably safe to assume in 2018 will also feature a spin off movie.
Although the recent trailers for Fifty Shades of Grey have all been rated 15, the film itself will be an 18 in the UK. However, in the United States the releases is rated R. An R rating in America stands for Restricted, and anyone under the age of 17 must be accompanied by an adult. So yes, it will be an option for the family day out!
This builds promise for me for the movie. They may actually release something raunchy and controversial, and they’ve done well to avoid the easy 15 rating to get more teen sales. Not long until the film now.
That’s it for this week’s roundup. What do you think about the rating for Fifty Shades? Does it convince you to watch it?
