This post is part of the Game of Thrones Spoiler Discussion series.

This is Third Act’s weekly spoiler discussion post where we discuss the events this week’s Game of Thrones episode.

Spoilers Warning & Guidelines

Obviously, this will have spoilers from this week episode. However, we do have a few guidelines we’d like people to consider before posting:

  1. No spoilers from episodes that haven’t aired yet.
  2. No spoilers from the books, unless as a commentary about how the episode deferred from the book.

The goal of this weekly segment is a place for discussion on each episode and speculate on future episodes.

Ramsey’s 20 Men

Interesting start to the episode, Ramsey made quick work of their camp and really pushed to the edge.

There is a fan-theory floating around that suggests that perhaps Melisandre caused the fires and that Ramsey never arrived. She did this in order to force Stannis’ hand. Interesting theory, but I doubt it. As I’ve said many times before, don’t underestimate Ramsey Bolton/Snow.

Worth the trek?

Jon Snow hasn’t actually told anyone about what happened and the Crows haven’t seem to have change their opinions on the Wildlings. More troubled times for the Watcher on The Wall.

Davos will be reading alone from now…

When he finds out the news, how will he take it? The relationship between Stannis and Davos has drastically changed. Can Davos ever forgive Stannis? Perhaps he can start providing guidance towards someone else more worthy? Jon Snow perhaps?

Game of Thrones Spoiler Discussion (Season 5, Episode 9)

A little trouble in Dorne…

All parties involved have managed to peacefully resolve their issue, which for Game of Thrones, is a rare occurrence. Doran’s plan to send Myrcella Baratheon and Trystane Martell has actually been one of the strongest plays towards the throne all season.

Think about it, Myrcella is currently second in line for the throne. If King Tommen Baratheon was to die, possibly of poison related symptoms, Myrcella would then become Queen. Assuming that Tommen has no known heirs, this places Trystane Martell in the King role and basically on the throne with Dorne’s interest in mind. Smart move Doran.

Too old…

If we didn’t hate him enough already, they went ahead and made him a paedophile. Meryn Trant is on Arya’s death list and they made it quite obvious Arya will become his next client. Giving Arya the opportunity to cross him off her list.

For those wondering why Arya hates him so much, he killed her sword fighting teacher Syrio Forel and was in the back pocket of Joffery.

Stannis…

Oh Stannis. You were our hero!

In all honesty, this move by Stannis has actually change my personal opinion of him. No one has sacrificed as much as Stannis for the realm. In Stannis’ mind there wasn’t a choice to be made. In order to save the realm he has to give up everything dear to himself.

Hot damn!

Yes. He has left his teenage rebellious age and starting to mature into adulthood. Daenery’s in unstoppable right now. Now, can we please got to Westoros?
