Age of Ultron has been and gone, you’ve seen Ant-Man, and let’s face it, Marvel’s Phase 2 was awesome, but what’s next? In this series we’re going to take a look at what we currently know about each of the films in Marvel’s Phase 3, discussing what we know from the comics, the already existing films, and of course a bit of speculation. So let’s get right into it, discussing everything we know about Marvel’s Captain Marvel.
Being released after Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, Captain Marvel will be closer to a classic superhero film than anything we’ve seen from Marvel for a while. While Captain Marvel has spent time in space, I expect this to be set entirely on Earth. Having said that, if this is set post alien invasion, this could be less origin story and more smashy smashy, and the closest thing to Hulk solo film we’ll get this side of phase 4.
In the comics
Captain Marvel has been the name of multiple characters, most recently (and the character this film is going to with) Carol Danvers. Formerly known as Ms. Marvel, she got the ‘promotion’ to Captain in 2012. She is one of the most powerful characters in Marvel Comics. She can fly, has superhuman strength, durability, and a bunch of other minor things that make her better at fighting.
Who’s in it?
No casting announcement has been made yet, but you can hear some suggestions from us here.
What to expect
With strength and abilities to rival Thor and The Hulk, there should be plenty of destruction and face punching. I would also expect S.H.I.E.L.D. to be involved in some way, and hopefully there will be some great cameos.
Which upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film are you most looking forward to? And don’t forget to check out the rest of our series on Marvel’s Phase 3.
