Now that the Entourage movie has hit cinemas, we’ve decided to take a look at 5 TV shows we think deserve to be made into a film. Whether it’s to expand the story or continue it, we believe these shows can and should make the move to the big screen.

5 TV Shows That Deserve a Movie

5 – Hannibal

There have been a lot of films based on the story of Hannibal Lecter, but few of them have been as well crafted as the recent TV adaptation. The fact that it doesn’t solely focus on Hannibal as a main character gives it an interesting, alternate take that would make an interesting film. It helps that not many people have seen this show, so they could more or less do what they wanted with the story.

4 – Penny Dreadful

I don’t know many people who watch Penny Dreadful, but the few that do really enjoy it. It has a cast with some recognisable names in it, and it has an interesting premise that hasn’t been explored a lot in recent films. This show could really benefit from an increased budget, and it would definitely make a great feature-length, cinematic experience.

3 – True Detective

True Detective is one of the best-written shows of all time, even if we’ve only had one season so far (although the second season is just around the corner). So far the story has been perfect for the longer format, but I’m sure with writers this talented that they could make a two-hour story just as intriguing. True Detective already attracts movie level talent, and it wouldn’t need a huge budget, so for me, this adaptation just makes sense. It would, of course, need to be a new story with new characters, but that seems to be the way this show is going anyway.

2 – Arrow / The Flash / DC Universe

It’s been said multiple times that this will never happen, something that’s only getting more likely as both the TV and the film universe expands, but I think there’s one way that they could cross over. In the comics, there are multiple universes, which have in the past crossed over. Wouldn’t it be great to see Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill interacting with Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin and all the rest? None of these shows gets huge viewing numbers (sorry to all the fans, but it is the truth), but that doesn’t mean that this is completely out of the question somewhere down the line.

1 – Game of Thrones

Is this really a surprise? Everybody who’s ever seen Game of Thrones (and everybody who hasn’t) knows just how cinematic this show is. Every season has bigger and more impressive visuals, and it’s getting to the point where the only way it can get any bigger is if it was made for the cinema. On top of this, Game of Thrones has already seen a couple of episodes be released on IMAX screens, so this idea isn’t completely out of the question. Add to that the wild popularity of the series, and this seems like a match made in heaven. To be honest, I wouldn’t really mind if it was the conclusion of the story or a completely new story set within that same universe, I just want to see this happen!
